Who could forget that Zara contrast sleeve jacket from this past winter/spring? My sister and I spotted it daily on the streets of NYC, sometimes a few times a day, and ended up texting each other "ZLJ" (for Zara Leather Jacket - even though only the sleeves were leather) whenever we saw one. It was almost like the license plate game on road trips. Kind of.

Anyway, this is my take on the ZLJ (which I actually tried on but it just didn't fit me well). I've had this leather jacket forever - my mother actually spotted it about 10 years ago when we were shopping in Hong Kong, and I'm so glad she did! I love it, and wear it every year without fail. It's probably the only item of clothing I still wear from that long ago - don't you love when you get something you can wear years and years? The only thing about it is that it's a little short for this weather, so the vest was perfect on top. (It's been so cold in New York I swear I feel like I don't even know what to wear these days.)

How are you dressing for the colder weather lately? (Assuming you're not in California or somewhere else that's still wonderfully warm...)

    Ooooh, I love this! I've been meaning to use my vest in the same way. I still dream of that Zara jacket. Wish they'd bring it back.

      haha they have so many similar ones now, like at Topshop. I think Asos has a similar one now too...

      But I actually like being able to wear 2 pieces to layer it for more warmth!

    I have recreated the infamous Zara jacket the same way. =) It's nice to at least replicate it even if we don't own it!

    LOVE how you turned the vest & leather jacket into one piece. & I seriously am dressing terribly in this weather. I'm freezing in the morning so I end up wearing something warm and then by the time I go out for lunch I'm sweating and regretting my choice. Gotta love when NY weather can't make up its mind!
