I love this skirt so much but hadn't quite figured out another outfit with it until the other morning when I realized the blue of the sweater (and the sportier vibe of it) would be perfect to set off the color & the girly-ness of the skirt.

One of the best things about being home is borrowing things from my mom's closet...like this skirt! She bought it at Intermix in New York when she was visiting Lauren and I before, and it's so gorgeous! It's so light and flowy, and the asymmetrical hem adds another little bit of intrigue. I wanted to let the skirt stand out in this outfit so kept it simple with a white crew neck tee and black (adorable) flats. 

Now if only my mother & her closet were in New York...

Brr! How chilly has it been lately? It's definitely getting closer to winter! I'm loving this sweater - I love the length, and the alpine style, and the tie-waist! Annnd I'm finally debuting my Rag & Bone Newbury booties! I love them so much - they're surprisingly comfortable, and easy to slip on and off with the back zip.

This weekend Lauren and I were invited to check out some samples that came in for the Byron Lars Beauty Mark line, and who could resist an opportunity like that? I came away with a big shopping bag filled with new clothes - how grateful I am to be a sample size! 

I love a good blazer, and this blazer-coat is amazing! It's easy and versatile for work or play, and I love that I don't need another coat on top of this to keep warm - it's perfect for fall! Not only that, but I love that the cinched waist keeps it feminine, and the wider shoulder makes it different too. All in all, I can see myself wearing this with several different outfits, and can't wait to keep styling it in different ways this fall!

Who could forget that Zara contrast sleeve jacket from this past winter/spring? My sister and I spotted it daily on the streets of NYC, sometimes a few times a day, and ended up texting each other "ZLJ" (for Zara Leather Jacket - even though only the sleeves were leather) whenever we saw one. It was almost like the license plate game on road trips. Kind of.

Anyway, this is my take on the ZLJ (which I actually tried on but it just didn't fit me well). I've had this leather jacket forever - my mother actually spotted it about 10 years ago when we were shopping in Hong Kong, and I'm so glad she did! I love it, and wear it every year without fail. It's probably the only item of clothing I still wear from that long ago - don't you love when you get something you can wear years and years? The only thing about it is that it's a little short for this weather, so the vest was perfect on top. (It's been so cold in New York I swear I feel like I don't even know what to wear these days.)

There's a lot going on in this outfit, but I loved the way the colors came together! The green blazer complements the green in the colorblocked shirt (and I love that about an inch of the sleeve peeks out of the 3/4 sleeve of my blazer), and the navy in the shirt then complements the blue in the skirt. A red lip and a small red bag then add the perfect pops of color. This was quite a fun outfit to put together! I've also received quite a few compliments on the necklace - I think this will definitely be a recurring piece in my outfits this fall.

I'd been looking for a striped blazer for a while and fell in love with this one at Anthropologie - I love the cropped silhouette and the little detail at the back with the ruffle. I can't wait to style it with other outfits - your basic white tee and dark skinny jeans, over a dark maxi dress...this one'll be a closet staple for sure!
