Can't Wait to Try: 5 Fall Nail Colors
Tuesday, July 24, 2012After seeing Refinery 29's fall fashion trends , I couldn't help but pick out my favorites to share: Butter London - Shag (o...
- Butter London - Shag (out in August): There's just something about this coppery-reddish-bronze that I love!
- OPI - German-icure (out in August): This is such a gorgeous, dark, metallic-y berry red, even though I normally am not attracted to colors like this for my nails!
- China Glaze - Unpredictable (out in August): This looks similar to my Deborah Lippmann Swagga Like Us in that it's got those interchanging colors! I love the greenish blue, too - makes me think of mermaids!
- NARS - Storm Bird: I love a great gray nail color, and I do own Essie's Chinchilly, but this is an entirely different kind of gray! I love how dark it is, and to me it evokes an urban sidewalk at dusk. (Is that weird? haha)
- Deborah Lippmann - Let's Go Crazy (Nordstrom exclusive): I normally cannot be bothered to use glitter nail polish since I just hate later having to remove it, but this one may just be worth it! I love the purple flecks of glitter, perfect for a fall party nail! (It looks like this one sold out already but hopefully it'll be back in stock soon!)
PS. I'm guest blogging today over on my sister's blog, Lauren Loves to Eat. It's my review of Smith & Wollensky's restaurant week menu! Check it out here.
Eye Candy: À La Plage
Monday, July 23, 2012Happy Monday! Who else is feeling slightly bleary-eyed from the weekend? I have my first steaming cup of coffee sitting next to me, and I...
I am sorely in need of some eye candy today, so here we go!
I first discovered these from Honestly WTF's blog, and loved them so much that I had to share them too!
Shooting from doorless helicopters, this series has been photographed around the world from the U.S. to Brazil to Australia. From above, a simple beach or pool becomes a blank canvas that allows me to start seeing the world as art. People and objects become patterns creating repetition, shape and form. These photographs are a visual celebration of color, light, shape--and summer bliss.

- Going to the gym again (or so I tell myself - stopped going for about a week or two, but I should really go again...)
- New episode of The Bachelorette, Miss Advised, and Bunheads tonight! (Yeah I'll admit I watch ABC Family...) Definitely won't get to watch all 3 in one night, but I'll at least get around to The Bachelorette. (I love Sean. Is anyone else rooting for him??) And Miss Advised is a new favorite!
- Um, I guess that's all I've got planned so far this week. Does counting down the days until I go to Seattle count? (Less than 3 weeks to go!!)

Summer Reading
Tuesday, July 03, 2012Top Image Via One thing about me is I love to read. I can lose myself in a book and barely come up for air - for example, when my sis...
- The Next Best Thing, by Jennifer Weiner. The first book of hers that I read was Good in Bed, and her writing, and the stories she tells, just sucked me right in. In this novel, the protagonist is a woman named Ruth living in LA and working as a writer for her own TV show. This one is actually brand new today, so go snatch it up! If you're not swayed by my words, and you have a kindle, you can download "Swim" for free - it's the short story she initially wrote that led to writing this full-length novel.
- Girls in White Dresses, by Jennifer Close. (Out in paperback, which is convenient if you don't own an eReader!) I first saw this at The Strand about a month ago, and it's about 3 friends who feel like everyone around them is getting married, while none of them are anywhere close. (Hello, this sounds familiar...oh wait, that's my life. haha)
- Where We Belong, by Emily Giffin. Something Borrowed is one of my all-time favorite books, and I've read everything Emily Giffin's written since then! I know I'm going to be reading this when it comes out on the 24th without even reading the premise.
- Sorority Sisters, by Claudia Welch. About 3 friends who join a sorority in the '70s, and how they remained friends.
- What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, by Tina Seelig. My mom actually read this and recommended it to my sister and me.
- Wife 22, by Melanie Gideon. This is book #1 for The Everygirl's Book Club, and I've always wanted to do a book club-type thing - and since I can't get it together to do one "in real life", I'll join this one! Join with me?
