Happy Halloween!

I still have Sandy on the brain, so apologies for late posts - it took me an hour to get to work today when it really should have taken half an hour, max. The city is bustling but still doesn't feel quite normal, and I have to go home and pack up a month's worth of clothes since my building got flooded and won't have power for about two weeks - right about the time I leave for Hong Kong for a week and a half! Night. Mare. I'm telling you!

For everyone who's been affected by Sandy, I hope life resumes to normal as quickly as possible, and in the meantime, happy halloween and I hope you all dress up and/or go trick-or-treating!

(Earrings, necklace, and bracelets are all mark.!)

This year I chose to celebrate on Saturday, and luckily was able to manage to find people cool enough to dress up with me! I love dressing up - I don't always do it every year but I have so much fun when I do. (You're never too old!) We were lucky that it wasn't that cold on Saturday night, seeing as 3 of us were baring our midriffs.

If you can't tell (because a lot of people couldn't) - I was a genie (not Princess Jasmine - who, hello people - wore light blue, not purple!), two of my friends (Sum & Downs) went as US women's volleyball champs, Kerri Walsh and Misty May - how great did they look? (Kerri Walsh even liked their Instagram of their costumes!) And my sister was Michael Jackson (with the wrong kind of hat...but I guess you just improvise for Halloween a lot!) and Erin was Audrey Hepburn.

Did you dress up this weekend/will you this week?

Hurricane Sandy is wreaking havoc along the East Coast so today I'm all bundled up at my friend's apartment (thanks Friend!!). Note to self: next year don't live in Zone A! (The mandatory evacuation zone.)

Hope you're all safe! xo

Halloween is right around the corner - I think it really did just sneak up on me this year! My original costume idea is moot now simply because I don't have time to create it, since I'll probably get dressed up this Saturday. (Dressing up is so much fun when you get right into it...who says it's just for kids?)

Anyway, like I mentioned in my fall post, one of the things I like best about this season is pumpkins! My lovely friend Ducs gave me pumpkin seeds that she roasted this past weekend at her carving party (while I was out biking in Central Park), and although I'm pretty intimidated about the idea of carving a pumpkin, this year it seems en vogue to paint (or bedazzle) your pumpkins. How beautiful are the ones above? Click on the links to find out how to make one yourself!

Will you be decorating a pumpkin this year? Or dressing up for Halloween?
