WHO CAN BELIEVE IT'S AUGUST?
Wednesday, August 03, 2011As a kid, August always made me feel a certain way - the end of summer is coming, school is starting relatively soon, and my birthday is com...
This year, while not feeling nostalgic for school the way my sister is, nor dreading the end of summer (it's been HOT this year...I think I'm ready for fall weather, although I do love the clothes I get to wear in summer!), I am busy trying to figure out what to do for my birthday.
Last year was fun, but I was away from my friends and family that weekend, and this year I'd like to do something much more fun! My friend's wedding is the Sunday after my birthday, and I have to drive upstate to get there, so I guess I can't be drinking too much (definitely want to enjoy her wedding, and be able to drive there with no problems)!
So far am thinking dinner in Mercer Kitchen with about 10 of my nearest and dearest, and then going to a bar somewhere and inviting the next 30 people I know in New York!
Hmmm...guess I'll be doing some more research...

D.C. RECAP
Thursday, July 07, 2011As much as I love living in NYC, it sure is nice to get away every once in a while! Quick recap of my July 4th weekend in D.C.: Friday ...
We sat upstairs, and all had delicious food (steak frites for me - rib eye!) before crashing nearly as soon as we got back to my sister's friend's apartment.
Good news is, we saw the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial all in one go - the bad news is, it was like 100 degrees and boiling, and I probably didn't appreciate everything for what it is since I was too busy feeling uncomfortable! We got refreshments at Starbucks, and then, fully rejuvenated, went to the Portrait Gallery, which was blessedly air conditioned! (I don't normally use words like "blessedly", but that's how grateful I was.)
HAPPY WEEKEND!
Thursday, June 30, 2011I'm off to our nation's capital, which is appropriate, given that it's Independence Day weekend. So excited! Hope everyone has ...

HAPPY MONDAY!
Monday, June 27, 2011I had such a lovely weekend this past weekend! Saturday I had to work some in the afternoon, but it was pretty chill and it went well anywa...
Later that night I went to my new favorite bar, and met up with a friend from my uni days, Anisa! (I went to school in England, so I really don't see my old friends from there that often.) I got our other friend to come meet us, and the three of us spent the night drinking delicious NYC Cocktail Week cocktails and reminiscing about college and getting new gossip on people we all knew...heehee!
Sunday was the perfect day - for those of you who live in New York, you know how gorgeous it was outside! I met up with Anisa in Sheep Meadow at like 11:30, and we lay out and talked for about 2 hours when the clouds started coming in, and decided to go to Forty Carrots for their yummy bunched lunch (I LOVE the carrot soup!). Throughout the course of the day we talked about everything - from old boyfriends, to how annoying it is when people assume we have boyfriends (happens to her too!), to where we want to live/work, fashion...everything. haha So much fun.
So not ready for it to be Monday today...the good news is that I have DC to look forward to this weekend, and next weekend one of my best friends is coming to visit, and I may be going to Boston at the end of the month as well. I love having things to look forward to.
Conference call time...have a great week!
NEW YORK SKY
Thursday, June 23, 2011I love this. The creator, Mike Bodge , literally takes a photo of the New York sky every 5 minutes, posts it, and somehow simplifies the co...
"My desk at work looks out onto a great view over Noho and the East Village. Every day I'm wow'd at not just the view itself, but also how quickly it changes hour by hour. I think a lot of New Yorkers draw inspiration from the skyline itself. I do a lot of small internet 'art' projects and the basic idea of tracking the sky popped into my head one day. It took a few iterations to boil it down to the simple form that it is in now of just the color blocks. It's something you can just look at and get it immediately."
